The Chim Sao field is located in blocks 12W and 12E, which lie at a water depth of 377ft, 400km offshore Vietnam. Formerly known as Blackbird, the field was discovered in 2006.
The Client
The client was Premier Oil Vietnam Offshore (POVO) & PetroVietnam Technical Services Company (PTSC).
The Scope
Nautec participated EPCI design competition as part of PTSC’s design consortium and eventually won the competition. It went on to perform the full Detailed Engineering design of the Chim Sao Wellhead Platforms. The water depth is 96 m, which required a launched jacket design, which was fully designed in-house.
The Challenges
This was the first launch jacket built by PTSC and the yard ground capacity was not sufficient for a jacket this size. However, construction had to begin and Nautec carried out extensive studies and design refinements to enable the construction and load-out of the jacket without strengthening the ground.
The Services
Nautec has strong record in the design of numerous wellhead platforms. We are able to perform full multi-disciplinary conceptual studies, FEED design and Detailed Engineering Design of Wellhead Topsides and Jacket Structures.
