In September 2014 Nautec completed the structural strengthening works on 3 diagonal members for BOKOR BODPA-A platform offshore Sarawak. BODP-A is a production platform, located approximately 45km from Miri, in water depths of approximately -70m offshore East Malaysia.
The Client
End client – Petronas Carigali.
The Scope
Nautec’s scope of work included the supply and delivery of all grouting materials, equipment and spread required for the grouting work; provision of grouting supervisors and lab technician; provision of an offshore mobile laboratory for cube sampling and on-site crush testing of sample grout cubes; daily reports and documentation.
The Challenges
The BODP-A Platform needed strengthening in order to take up the additional loads from the drilling rig, which will be installing 4 new wells. The strengthening work was carried out offshore with the use of a work barge (Petra Challenger), which was provided by the client.
The Services
Structural strengthening works on 3 diagonal members thru member UHPC infill grouting.
Grout specimens were cast and sampled randomly at either start, middle or end stages of the grouting process. The sample cubes were taken for compressive tests at Nautec’s mobile laboratory.
Client Benefit
Nautec’s structural strengthening programmes help secure and extend the production life of offshore structures for oil & gas companies worldwide so that they can maximise the utilisation of their offshore assets.
The project was completed within the desired timeframe and to client satisfaction.
