In April 2014 Nautec was contracted by Larsen & Toubro Limited to provide Structural Strengthening of Members and Joints at PLQP Platform by infill of UHPC grout NaX® Q140. The strengthening works consisted of the infill of two members and two joints at the deck support frame of PLQP Platform
The Client
Nautec was commissioned by Larsen & Toubro Limited.
The Scope
The scope of work included the supply of NaX® Q140 Ultra High Performance Cementitious materials; supply of grouting equipment; supply of manpower; drilling inlet and outlet holes; grouting works at PLQP Platform; project documentation and compression testing of the cast high performance materials at a third party accredited lab in Singapore.
The Challenges
The two diagonal members were found overstressed in the design report.
The Services
The grouting spread was set up on board PLQP platform and the grouting materials were stored nearby the spread for easy access during the grouting operation. All equipment went through thorough inspection and testing before commencing the operation. The grouting team drilled holes in the members and joints to be used as inlets and outlets, where the self-locking nozzles and 2” ball valves were installed onto each member and joint prior to grouting operation. Hereafter the grouting procedure took place. Nautec supplied all documentations, materials, equipment, supervisors and QC engineers associated with the grouting work. A total of 23 tons of NaX®Q140 high performance cement was utilized for the entire grouting operation of the two members and two joints. The operation was completed within the agreed timeframe to client satisfaction.
