In February 2012, Nautec was contracted to carry out the supervision of drilling and inspection of jacket legs and grouting of the jacket legs annulus at the LAM-22 facilities Wellhead Platform, approximately 34km offshore Cheleken Harbour in the Caspian Sea.
The Client
Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd.
The Scope
To carry out the supervision of drilling and inspection of jacket legs and grouting of the jacket legs annulus.
The Challenges
Drilling and inspection were to be carried out prior to grouting of the annulus of the jacket legs to determine presence of existing grout in the annulus. There were 30 jacket legs at the Production platform and 12 jacket legs at the old accommodation platform to be inspected.
The Services
The inspection of the jacket legs and the preparation of grouting inlets and outlets for structures that were grouted was carried out by divers from DOTL under the supervision of Nautec Offshore supervisors. Upon drilling and inspection 8 jacket legs from the Production platform and 2 jacket legs from the old accommodation platform were found to have existing grout in the annulus. The structures that were grouted were 22 jacket legs at the production platform and 10 jacket legs at the old accommodation platform.
Client Benefit
Nautec self-locking nozzle proved to be very effective, even with annulus width of as small as 16mm. Nautec upgraded the platform structures by means of NaX® Q80 UHPC grouting to extend the production life of the platforms. All the deliverables were achieved with high quality and client acceptance.
